I’ve done everything I can think of to troubleshoot. I tried all the Logic settings, I tried a different hard drive, I tried different cables and cleared 99 Gb of free memory on the system drive. I didn’t want to upgrade stuff because it was going so well up to that point but I eventually upgraded to El Capitan and the latest update of Logic as a final desperate attempt to solve the problem.

It didn’t. If anything El Capitan just gave me more headaches over other things on top of this headache with Logic. I’ve been through so much troubleshooting and that was the last thing I could think of.

Since nothing on the computer appears to be doing anything. I am beginning to suspect a problem either with the mixer or with Logic’s handling of it. Jun 23, PM. Something had to change, a system doesn’t just stop working after a year unless there’s a hardware problem or software was upgraded. Jun 24, AM. This already occurred to me for that exact reason: Stuff doesn’t just stop working suddenly.

I was deliberately not doing any major updates so that I would avoid this so I was always disposed not to update. I am kind of anti-update these days. The OS harasses us to update now, however. My iPhone comes on like a stalker.

So I may have been annoyed into doing the occasional security updates. The OS was 2 or 3 versions behind so my calculation would have been that most of the major updating was done already and the only thing left was security fixes and adding things like RAW support rather than changing core components. I haven’t been able to line up dates though. Updating to El Captain and the latest Logic was the calculation that maybe some update I forgot about caused the problem and hopefully whatever it was had been identified and fixed by now since it was a couple OS versions down the pipeline by now.

There have been some issues with the mixer that may have caused changes I don’t know about. I have been trying to get our audio tec to pinpoint when any firmware updates or mixer problems may have occurred.

It’s either that or hardware problems with my Macbook but no other system seems to have problems except Logic. I do everything from gaming to 3D modeling on it. Community Get Support. It can mean so many things, It can be an overload of the internal bus system so that a tiny bit of data doesn’t make it where it’s supposed to on time. Often it’s plugins like Space Designer that tie up the bus, not only does it take a lot of cpu to do the convolution math it has to pass the data through as well.

Journaling only manages disk integrity with files under 20Mb, if something happens to the audio drive chances are journaling won’t be able to do much, if anything. Jul 27, PM. A week before logic X comes out it starts bugging out Im running 2. Aug 13, PM. Aug 13, PM in response to dandotcraig In response to dandotcraig. Umm,, no offence LP9 was working fine and then stopped working normally according to you. Therefore what changed at the time LP9 stopped working normally?

If you did, did you then restore from a backup you made prior to these problems occuring and what happened when you did so? Did you start recording or creating music in a different way to how you used to before the problem started? Have you started using a different SI or FX plugin or plugins..

More or different FX for example.. Did you install a new version of a plugin? Is all your software legal? Have to ask because some people install all kinds of illegal plugins and whatever else.. Have you looked at the System logs to see if anything is happening out of the ordinary when you get these messages? Have you looked at OS X’s Activity monitor to see if any app or routine is kicking in hard when you get this issue?

Basically, you need to think about and look for what changed I believe i solved my problem Logic only runs in 64bit I probley changed it around the same time i started getting problems because some plugs run better in 32 over 64 in maschine. I might start checking all the other plugs to see if I can make this change. Iv never really taken much notice of my CPU usage Im guessing this is normal? Also any advise on harddrive setup I’ve done this for years btw. Yes, format your external drive with journaling off.

God knows they have been trashed many times for various reasons No control surface to worry about.

To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I do live multitrack recordings at a few venues and have been doing this for years using Logic and several different interfaces. I dont use any plugins while recording and usually Im running less than 16 tracks at a time. On average about 12 tracks, but as little as 8, and I’ve been getting this error randomly while recording every time.

I’ve tried internal drive with and without Sudden Motion Sensor and external drive and read all the discussions I can find and I’m still getting tthe error. Over the course of an hour set, it’ll happen sometimes 4 or 5 times. If anybody has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I have another show to record tonight and would love to get this resolved before then.

Posted on Dec 6, PM. Page content loaded. There’s a lot of background cr p going on in the newer operating systems, that could have an effect and the system as a whole as not as efficient as it used to be. Do you have anything running in the background that could be interfering with system stability? Dec 6, PM. Not sure if any of these can cause conflicts but if they are running in the background especially compressed memory I can see how it might be a problem for the type of recording you’re doing.

I do location recording as well but still use an old Acer XP laptop, between tracks. Firewire connection. I’m not running anything in the background. Only Logic. It is equipped with USB 3. Do you know how to tell if Compressed memory is on?

Also, do you think it will make a difference to use firewire instead of USB? I have a to cable that I can use. If you have a powered USB 2.

Some USB 2. It worked fine for a year recording two shows every weekend with the longest set being an hour and a half. Then, suddenly, over the past few months it started getting this error message interrupting the recording 2 or 3 times a set. This is unusual because it is a overload message during recording of 16 raw audio tracks.

There are no effects of software instruments involved. This should not be a strain on either the system or the hard drive. I’ve done everything I can think of to troubleshoot. Atlas Posted November 13, Posted November 13, Please update your signature Personally I am still with Snow Leopard and does not have such problems I join your prayer that a solution will come soon! Watch the meters as the project plays back, noting when the meters are full.

When a meter is full, the CPU or the disk has reached the limit of its processing capability. System overload alerts can appear when any of these meters peak. You can use this information to make adjustments to your project or your system configuration. If you’re recording audio and not software instruments, you can monitor your audio directly from the source. If your project doesn’t include automation, or the automation doesn’t need to be sample accurate, you can reduce the CPU load by turning off Sample Accurate Automation.

If your project does include automation, choose the option that includes only the parameters you’re automating. Projects with higher sample rates create larger audio files, which can increase the load on the CPU and disk. Plug-ins also require more CPU power to process audio files at higher sample rates. When choosing the sample rate for your project, balance the considerations of audio quality, the anticipated format of the final product, and the performance of your Mac.

If disk activity is causing system overload alerts, try choosing lower sample rates for your projects. When using CPU-intensive effect plug-ins such as reverbs and delays, you can reduce the load on the CPU by using send effects.

Send effects let you use a single plug-in to process signals from multiple channels. Avoid inserting effect plug-ins on individual tracks in a project. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes, it is divided into a partitions It is connected via TB to my mac pro I don’t have it configured as a raid, it’s really 2 3TB drives side by side. The drive I record to does have partitions.

Is that a problem? Thank you kindly for your questions. Hard drive spec. You can try setting the hard drives to never go to sleep but the controller chip inside the enclosure may not respond to that setting.

You can always move finished projects to your 6TB to free up space once you are done. Mac mini 2. Great suggestion I will give that a try. Can I try the same solution you suggested to the topic starter by just placing my projects on an external ssd? You could do that or you could change the internal drive in your current Mac.

You do not need any dedicated SSD to record to. Put in the largest SSD system drive you can buy and record all your projects to it. Use the Lacie as an external. Sounding like.

Maybe it’s my luck. If I had a new Mac pro. I would not use any external drive. Guys – if freezing a lot of tracks usually takes care of my play back problems – does that hint at what the likely culprit is form the list Eric listed? Would I be able to upload a project that often gives me playback problems with tracks unfrozen and see how it runs on your work iMac triplets?

Since you seem to have a system very close to mine. Hi and to chime in, I believe that Eric is right about the lacie, and it doing to sleep, there are technical things you can do to adjust this, I would suggest, first if there are any drivers update them, if there is any firmware for the drive update it. Speak to lacie ask them if there is any way you can use a hdparams style of app too to adjust the sleep time.

Also and concurrently, load the project and resave it, making all the audio a part of the project. The reason is you want to load the project on the local disk drive and also the lacie. Test each one out while you have the “Activity Monitor” app, open and on the disc tab, what is using all the disc activity, is it logic or is it something else.

Try doing the same thing on the lacie too. Also check you ‘energy’ preferences, is it set to put the disk’s to sleep? To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Often it’s plugins like Space Designer that tie up the bus, not only does it take a lot of cpu to do the convolution math it has to pass the data through as well.

Therefore what changed at the time LP9 stopped working normally? If you did, did you then restore from a backup you made prior to these problems occuring and what happened when you did so?

Did you start recording or creating music in a different way to how you used to before the problem started? Have you started using a different SI or FX plugin or plugins.

More or different FX for example. Did you install a new version of a plugin? Is all your software legal? Have to ask because some people install all kinds of illegal plugins and whatever else.

Have you looked at the System logs to see if anything is happening out of the ordinary when you get dism messages?

Have you looked at OS Systek Activity monitor to see if any app or routine is kicking in hard when you get this issue? Basically, you need to think about and look for what changed I believe i solved my problem Logic only runs in 64bit I probley changed it around the sysrem time i started getting problems because some plugs run better in 32 over 64 cyberlink powerdirector 9 free maschine. I might start checking all the other plugs to see if I can make apprentice book review free change.

Iv never really taken much notice of my CPU usage Im guessing this is normal? Also any advise on harddrive setup I’ve done this for years btw. The option IS available in disk utility all you have to do is hold down logiic of the modifier keys for it to appear in the logic pro x disk too slow or system overload free. I forget. Often it’s plugins like Space Designer logic pro x disk too slow or system overload free tie up the bus, not only does it take a lot of cpu to do the convolution math it has to pass the data through as well.

Journaling is mainly used on servers where track of many small files some of them open needs the added integrity. I’ve never used journaling never seen any problems, the drives don’t work as hard.

Aug 14, AM. The internal drive is then backed up to the Time Machine drive I guess ovegload can never have too much back up! Before I do that please confirm that, if I do that, then subsequently want to revert for logic pro x disk too slow or system overload free reason, I can by simply selecting Enable Journaling. The other name for Journaling is Indexing. Slightly different because of the OS involved but same basic function. Aug 14, PM in response to dandotcraig In response to dandotcraig.

You can also optimize Alchemy for improved performance. Configure your system Follow these guidelines when configuring your system for use with Logic Pro: Quit other apps when using Logic Pro. Make sure your Mac has the maximum amount of RAM, especially if your projects usually include many plug-ins or multiple instances of the EXS24 sampler.

Save projects with high track counts to a dedicated storage device such as an external USB-C hard drive or an external solid-state drive SSD instead of saving projects to the system drive of your Mac. Learn more about which file system is best for you.

Девушка покачала головой. – Как бы я хотела сказать «да». – Миллион песет? – предложил Беккер.

Aug 24,  · Right-click on that directory and create an Alias of it. Go to the existing project directory parent folder in Finder (should be Music) Rename the Logic folder to Logic_old (or something like that) Move the alias from the external drive to the Music folder (the only Logic “folder” is now an alias). Oct 29,  · “Disk is too slow or system overload” I´m sorry to bring up this topic since it´s been dealt with numerous times before. On this forum as well as on many other. Crazy thing is; while many are familiar with this message only some of us get them to a degree where it´s utterly impossible to have any.

I probably spent a solid hours trying to solve this puzzle through little tricks (resetting PRAM, SMC etc) that all of you with this problem have probably tried yourselves. Do yourself a favor, and buy an SSD drive. The problem will be fixed. Jun 24,  · I tried all the Logic settings, I tried a different hard drive, I tried different cables and cleared 99 Gb of free memory on the system drive. I didn’t want to upgrade stuff because it was going so well up to that point but I eventually upgraded to El Capitan and the latest update of Logic as a final desperate attempt to solve the problem.
